How a Monogram column reports a fault
Monogram column refrigeration — standalone, fully integrated refrigerator and freezer columns that disappear behind custom panels — runs on the GE refrigeration control family, so a fault shows up as a short letter alert. Because columns are often specified in pairs, a fault may be isolated to one column while the other runs normally. Reading the alert is the start of any Monogram column refrigeration repair.
The alerts you will see
FF warns that temperature is rising in that column and the contents are at risk. CC means the temperature controls need checking. dE flags a defrost-system fault in the last 24 hours — especially relevant on a freezer column, where it shows up as evaporator frost. CI tells you to check the icemaker on a column so equipped, and PF reports a power interruption to be cleared.
Indicators and demo mode
tC and tF indicate Turbo Cool and Turbo Freeze are running and are not faults. A column that appears not to cool may be in DE showroom mode — lights on, cooling off — cleared by unplugging the unit for a minute or two. On a paired refrigerator-and-freezer column installation, always note which column is showing the alert, as each has its own sensors and defrost system.
What to check, and when to call
For FF or CC, confirm the column door seals and is not blocked, the unit is out of demo mode, and the condenser area is clear, then allow recovery time. A persistent FF, a dE defrost fault, a CI icemaker fault, or a column that will not hold temperature needs a technician — integrated columns are not easily pulled for DIY.
